Custom Analysis Fields

Configure exactly what the AI extracts from booth conversations — from default BANT signals to custom fields specific to your sales process.

5–10 minutes6 steps

Before You Start

  • A LeadFuel account
  • An understanding of what data points matter most to your sales process
1

Navigate to Analysis Fields

Go to Dashboard → Settings and scroll to the Analysis Fields section (or look for it in the settings navigation).

You'll see a list of all configured analysis fields, organized by category. Each field has: - Name: What the field is called - Description: Instructions for the AI on what to extract - Type: String, string array (list), or enum (predefined choices) - Category: Organizational grouping (identity, opportunity, BANT, engagement, etc.) - Enabled/Disabled: Toggle whether the AI extracts this field

2

Understand the Default Fields

LeadFuel comes pre-configured with fields that cover the most common B2B sales data points:

Identity fields:

Name, Job Title, Company

Visit Context:

Reason for visiting the booth
Reason for attending the event

Opportunity Intelligence:

Upcoming projects
Pain points
Products discussed
Technology stack
Competitors mentioned

BANT Qualification:

Budget signals
Authority level
Need urgency
Decision timeline

Engagement & Follow-Up:

Sentiment (very positive → negative)
Engagement level (high / medium / low)
Next steps discussed
Key quotes from the conversation
Personalized follow-up hook

Conversation-Level:

Conversation summary

Each of these can be enabled or disabled independently. If your sales process doesn't use BANT scoring, turn those fields off. The AI only extracts enabled fields, which keeps the analysis focused and relevant.

3

Enable or Disable Fields

Toggle fields on or off based on what your team needs:

  • Turn off fields that aren't relevant to your sales process. Fewer fields = more focused extraction.
  • Turn on fields that matter. The AI allocates more attention to enabled fields.

For example, if you're a healthcare IT company, you might want to: - Keep all Opportunity Intelligence fields on (especially competitors and technology stack) - Keep BANT fields on (healthcare buying cycles are long and budget-driven) - Maybe disable 'Reason for attending event' (less useful if everyone is at the same conference)

Changes take effect immediately for the next lead processed. Previously processed leads are not re-analyzed automatically (but you can manually re-trigger analysis from the lead detail page).

Add Custom Fields

Click Add Custom Field to create a field specific to your business. You'll need to provide:

Field Key: A unique identifier (lowercase, underscores, no spaces). Example: compliance_requirements

Label: The display name. Example: Compliance Requirements

Description: Instructions for the AI. Be specific about what to extract and how to format it. Example: List any compliance frameworks, regulations, or certifications the prospect mentioned needing (HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, GDPR, etc.). Include any specific compliance challenges or concerns they expressed.

Field Type: - String: A single text value. Good for summaries or descriptions. - String Array: A list of values. Good for things like 'products discussed' or 'pain points' where there could be multiple. - Enum: A predefined set of choices. Good for categorical data like sentiment or engagement level. You'll define the possible values.

Category: Which section to display the field in.

Per-Person: Whether this field applies to each person in a conversation (yes for most fields) or to the conversation as a whole.

The description field is the most important part. Think of it as instructions for a smart assistant who is reading the transcript — tell them exactly what to look for and how to format the answer.

Custom Field Examples

Here are some custom fields that work well for specific industries:

Technology/Cloud Services:

`current_cloud_provider` (enum: AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle, On-Premises, Multi-Cloud, Other)
`migration_timeline` (string: when are they planning to migrate)
`workload_types` (string_array: what workloads they discussed — databases, applications, DR, etc.)

Healthcare:

`compliance_frameworks` (string_array: HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, etc.)
`ehr_system` (string: what EHR they use — Epic, Cerner, etc.)
`patient_data_concerns` (string: any data sovereignty or privacy concerns)

Manufacturing:

`production_systems` (string_array: ERP, MES, SCADA systems mentioned)
`digital_transformation_stage` (enum: Planning, Evaluating, Implementing, Optimizing)
`downtime_tolerance` (string: how much downtime they can accept)

Financial Services:

`regulatory_requirements` (string_array: SOX, FINRA, SEC, GDPR, etc.)
`current_infrastructure` (string: on-premises, cloud, hybrid)
`audit_timeline` (string: upcoming audit dates or cycles)

Test Your Configuration

After adding custom fields, test them by processing a lead that has conversation data:

  1. 1Make sure you have an active event with conversation transcripts
  2. 2Scan a badge (or re-analyze an existing lead)
  3. 3Open the lead detail page and check the Analysis section
  4. 4Your custom fields should appear with extracted data

If a custom field shows empty, it could mean: - The conversation didn't contain relevant information for that field - The field description needs to be more specific - The field type might be wrong (use string_array if you expect multiple values)

You can re-trigger analysis on any lead from the lead detail page using the Regenerate Analysis button.

Troubleshooting

My custom field always comes back empty
The most common issue is a vague description. Instead of 'budget information', write 'Any mentions of budget, spending authority, approved funding, cost constraints, or financial timeline. Include specific dollar amounts or ranges if mentioned.' The more specific the instructions, the better the extraction.
The AI is extracting incorrect data for a field
Refine the field description. If the AI is pulling in unrelated information, add exclusions: 'Extract compliance requirements mentioned by the prospect. Do NOT include general industry regulations that weren't specifically discussed.' You can also change the field type — sometimes switching from string to string_array (or vice versa) produces better results.
I want to re-analyze all leads with the new fields
Currently, re-analysis is per-lead from the lead detail page (click Regenerate Analysis). Bulk re-analysis across all leads isn't available yet. For new leads going forward, the updated field configuration will be used automatically.
